DELIGHTING IN STUDY
"Great are the works of the Lord, they are studied by all who delight in them” (Psalm 111:2).
Delight is an intense interest that draws people of all ages to study with both heart and mind. We find that enthusiasm can be contagious, so we encourage our members to invite others to join them in their homes in pursuing areas of interest. Hosting or joining such a group provides deeper friendships and a chance to explore a topic of study more deeply.
We also provide opportunities for deeper study and fellowship for adults during our gatherings.
Ambassadors Class
On the first Sunday of each month Pastor John Sleadd hosts the Ambassadors Class, an informal, conversational time of topical study and discussion. Topics range from points of Bible doctrine and theology to practices of discipleship and family life. All questions of faith and practice are welcome in this class, which includes a time of Questions and Answers.
New Members Class
A New Members Class is offered periodically to present the beliefs, practices and goals of HOFGP. Go to the church calendar, or speak with a church leader for the dates of the next classes.
EQUIPPING LEADERS
God is calling bold, adventurous men of faith to become gospel preaching, servant leaders. Are you one of them?
Shared Pulpit Team
One of the distinctive things about HOFGP is our Shared Pulpit Ministry. We believe a plurality of teachers provides the following benefits.
1. Modeled diversity of teaching gifts
2. Discipleship process for identifying and training emerging leaders
3. Strategic preparation for missionary work and church planting
We are passionate about equipping men to be ambassadors for Christ and preachers of the Gospel. We believe that husbands are called to serve as pastors in their homes. We therefore encourage our men to develop their skills in Bible study and teaching to bless their families. Men who feel gifted and called to teach outside of their homes are encouraged to talk with the Elders about equipping opportunities for further training.
The Shared Pulpit Team currently meets on the 2nd and 4th Sundays after the Shared Meal for sermon evaluation and discussion. Talk to an Elder for more information on how to participate.
Preacher Feature
This group of men meets on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays to practice preaching. They preach at the evening chapel service at the Men's Gospel Rescue Mission on the 4th Thursday of each month. Talk with Pastor John for more information on this ministry.
